Clinician Scientist Program

Research in the Clinical Setting

Clinician Scientist Program with a 12-Month Funding Period

The German Foundation for Dermatology (Deutsche Stiftung für Dermatologie) is offering funded clinical qualification positions for physicians as Clinician Scientists in dermatology for a one-year funding period. The call is issued under the patronage and with the support of the German Dermatological Society (DDG) and the Association for Dermatological Research (ADF).

The program offers physicians the opportunity to work 100% on their own research project within a clinical setting over a period of twelve months.

The funding amount for a Clinician Scientist is €90,000 for the entire funding period, including material costs and conference participation. This amount is intended to cover 100% of the costs of the Clinician Scientist position for the funding period, based on the collective agreement for physicians (TV-Ärzte Marburger Bund) and taking the applicant’s individual qualifications and circumstances into account.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • completed doctoral degree (PhD/MD or equivalent),
  • currently undergoing specialist training in Dermatology and Venereology,
  • employed at a university dermatology department in Germany,
  • demonstrated scientific engagement (e.g., through poster presentations, oral presentations, and ideally at least one scientific publication),
  • a scientifically sound and promising project proposal.

Our fellowships are exclusively available to members of the DDG and ADF. Not yet a member? No problem. You can apply directly for DDG membership online.
